ooolala, new kitchen vibes! How fun!

I was also mourning the tragedy in the southeast and especially Asheville and surrounding area. Several years ago a friend and I vacationed there and toured Chimney Rock, Bat Cave (we bought jars of jam from an older woman with a roadside stand) and Lake Lure. We saw the gorgeous apple trees in Hendersonville and our hotel was in downtown Asheville. It's hard to realize that those places no longer exist.

Maybe my grandmother was visiting in spirit the other day, but I remember something she told me many years ago. We were mourning the deaths of 7 children in a horrendous accident on the freeway near us. After the funerals, grandma said, " Catie, what was, was. What is, is. Give strength, courage, and hopefulness to those that remain by thinking and visualizing them carrying on with power and certainty. Move forward with prayer and happiness in your heart. Know that God wanted those children Home with Him and they are celebrating their freedom from the heavy earth. Your hanging on to the sadness does not make you a good person full of sympathy, it only brings you and the family down. Celebrate your life. Move forward and get on with living."

After remembering that, my spirit changed for the better. I especially remembered the first part of her advice, "What was, was. What is, is.", when I lost a long time job. It got me through the shock and feelings of desperation. I worked at feeling hopeful and visualizing better times, and they came.
Now I see all those storm-broken areas full of happy people celebrating new streets and buildings and admiring the gorgeous flowers and trees.

Sorry this was long, Diane. Maybe grandma's words will help others.

Your table is lovely! Another item you might like in place of the silver candle holders are leaf holders for the candles. I got mine in bronze color from Amazon. They are inexpensive and would look great with your color scheme!
